Gil Scott-Heron - New York Is Killing Me

I’ve only posted one other track from Gil Scott-Heron’s I’m New Here, mostly because the more I listen to it the more I feel that listening to individual tracks (however good) doesn’t do justice to what happens when you listen to the album as a whole.

That said, at the moment I’m feeling like New York Is Killing Me is the cornerstone of the album, and it’s a beautifully unsettling track.

Give this a listen on its own, but if it works for you at all you really need to listen to the record end-to-end a few times.
