heard this song on fresh air. Seeger performed it in 1967 on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, but CBS censored the song from broadcast because of its criticism of the war and the Johnson administration. under pressure CBS gave in and allowed Seeger to return and perform the song again for broadcast in February, 1968.
