I’ll propose “one of the most significant albums of the 00s that’s also one of the albums most likely to elicit an ‘oh, man, I haven’t listened to that in forever, do you remember…’ response from a randomly selected cross-section of the population in five years” in place of “best,” since I’m more certain of the former.
Without question a very good album, but for me it’s an album that I’m almost always happy to hear when it happens to be playing, rather than one that I actively listen to.
The perils of intersecting too neatly with the zeitgeist, maybe.
