After less than nine months in office, President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, a decision so astonishing that the audience in the Norwegian capital of Oslo gasped.
thegongshow: I love Obama too and plan to invite him to my wedding (seriously… I hope he shows…), but this really surprised me too.
I suspect that Obama might be a little ambivalent about this, too.
Around the end of his time in office it would merit a serious fist bump, I’m sure, but less that a year after taking office, with a lot more items still filed under in progress or to do than complete? More controversy and more headaches, in return for an honor that doesn’t particularly help him accomplish anything.
I also sort of suspect that the phrase “And to be clear about this: fuck you, George W” might be engraved somewhere on the medal.
